My Family Culture

I would chose family photo album, recipe cards, and our Bible if I had to evacuate. They each mean so much and represent our family culture strongly. The family photo album shows they traditions we have, what we believe, how we interact, the way we have fun together. The recipe cards are important because they were passed down from my family. We love cooking together and talking about the past and traditions based on ‘cooking holidays’ like Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas where big meals are made and celebrated! Our Bible because it is something I have relied on more and more in my life it has important dates in it, stories, and encouragement too!

If I was told I could only keep one of these items I would be devastated. However, I would keep the pictures. I know most the recipes by heart and there are Bibles all across the world, so I could always get a different one. I would be upset for sure though!

The insight I gained is people in different parts of the world and even here, go through this every day. They have to decide in their whole life what is the most important and that is all they have. It just makes me think more about how hard that must be and the way that would make me feel.
